Physics - Our Department
The department has a Principal Teacher and one full time teacher. Our Physics courses are offered at Standard Grade, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher. Our laboratories are well equipped but a little old fashioned.
The subject departments Biology, Chemistry and Physics have eight full time teaching staff, one part time teacher and two experienced technicians. We all teach General Science to our S1 and S2 pupils.
Our departmental aims are:
- to foster a supportive learning environment producing a positive atmosphere in which all are mutually respected and valued
- to stimulate and encourage a desire to learn through scientific enquiry and thinking
- to provide high quality courses using a wide variety of resources and methodologies, allowing progression and development of knowledge and skills
- to encourage independence of thought which leads students to take responsibility for their own learning
