Chemistry - Our Department

The department shares a Curriculum Leader and two full time teachers. Our Chemistry courses are offered at Standard Grade, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher. Our laboratories are fairly well appointed but a little old fashioned.

The subject departments Biology, Chemistry and Physics have eight full time teaching staff, one part time teacher and two experienced technicians. We all teach General Science to our S1 and S2 pupils.

Our departmental aims are:

to foster a supportive learning environment producing a positive atmosphere in which all are mutually respected and valued
to stimulate and encourage a desire to learn through scientific enquiry and thinking
to provide high quality courses using a wide variety of resources and methodologies, allowing progression and development of knowledge and skills
to encourage independence of thought which leads students to take responsibility for their own learning
